Trip Report Maledives January 2013

Divesafari with MY HARIYANA ONE

Unfortunately, regarding the flight the usual disasters happened (why always with us? ). Some Weeks before the vacation, the travel agent called, the Sri Lankan Airlines had cancelled the return flight for the planned time. This time we did not accept this cancellation of the flight and after multiple calls and discussions Sri Lankan Airlines booked our return flight on Etihad with a stopover in Abu Dhabi.

So we had the possibility of direct comparison between two airlines. Both in terms of punctuality, service, food, entertainment and also state of the aircraft Etihad Airways was leading, good to know.

Arrival in Male was not until the afternoon, Adriano was waiting for us at the airport, the other guests had already finished their first dive of the tour.

The ship: We have felt very comfortable on the Hariyana One, despite the somewhat simpler equipment, especially the cabins, we can recommend the tour by and with Adriano Bähtz ( www.atoll - adventures.com ). In particular, divers who place great emphasis on good food, will like it. It is always a mystery anyway to us how the ship's cooks on liveaboards manage to cook the food on such a small space - the chef on the Hariyana One has exceeded himself. Of course, always under the watchful eyes and with the help of Tony, getting on board as well as everything is taken care of. Morning after the first dive there is a sumptuous breakfast with eggs, homemade bread or rolls, sweet pastries, jams, sausages, etc. Lunch hot dishes, often freshly caught fish, chicken, salads, pasta smiley, mostly dessert or fresh fruit. in the evening again soup, fish or meat, salads, vegetables and dessert. Really no real chance to slim down!

Our 14-days tour took us from Hulhule first into the North Male Atoll, the Rasdhoo Atoll, North Ari and the South Ari Atoll. In the second week we did go into the Felidhoo Atoll (very nice!)which did not know and finally via the South Male Atoll back to Hulhule. An enumeration of all the dive sites would maybe blow up the report here (a total of 38 dives were offered), we will therefore describe those in detail, which we felt particularly interesting. This are :

Rasdhoo Madivaru

Once at incoming in the morning and outgoing current dived the other day. Completely different dives, each with tuna, groupers, gray reef sharks, Napoleon wrasses, Batfish.

Hafza Thila ( Ari )

The classic, always good for a surprise, again the gray reef sharks, white tip reef sharks and then the little eagle rays, who was eager to get on the photo (10 minutes all to ourselves ..)

Maaya Thila ( Ari )

Evening of compulsory night dive with white tip reef sharks, turtle, stingray and hunting mackerel. As Early Morning Dive on the same spot then a very different picture with not quite as many sharks and beautiful Anemone fields.

Dhigga Thila ( Ari )

Very nice overhangs plus 9 gray reef sharks.

Rangali Madivaru ( Ari )

Manta rays, manta rays, manta rays. After it had not quite worked for "Panettone" with the mantas, we were more than spoiled by this known cleaning station. Always nice to see the Manta Rays

Dhigga Thila Maaya Thila Kudarah Thila Hafza Thila

Kudarah Thila ( Ari )

Has always been one of our favorite places in the Ari Atoll because of the large schools of fishes, the overhangs and beautiful anemones.

Broken Rock ( Ari )

At this interesting dive site first time we have encountered no significant current, inasmuch as we were able to dive the interesting breakthrough in peace.

Fotteyo (Felidhoo)

Eagle rays!, white tip reef sharks, gray reef sharks, Napoleon wrasses, leaf fish, overhangs, sometimes strong current

Fushi Kandu (Felidhoo)

Cool dive site, abve us a group of eagle rays (16 ), plus several sharks. Unfortunately, the view too bad for good photos.

Devana Kandu (Felidhoo)

Fish soup at its finest.

Kuda Giri (South Male)
This site was known to us from embudu holiday, but we have never had such great visibility, especially at the wreck. In addition, a very patient turtle, a hunting moray eel and dark green(!) anemones.

The weather was kind to us during the two weeks: Lots of sun and blue sky, only sometimes cloudy, no rain. There were hardly any waves, the current was mixed, but not too strong.

Big Thanks to the entire crew, they were always friendly and helpful. The same applies also for the guys from the dive dhoni, they were very quick, friendly and reliable, again and again fished us out of the water. Special fun the little parrot "Green Beauty", which always proudly sat on the shoulder of thr Dhoni-captain (or other people ). We hope that his trips always turn out well, once he had apparently already been rescued from the sea, but after we left.

For further entertainment, there were two barbecues on uninhabited islands, snorkeling tours with (at Mamigili) with a whale shark, a visit to Holiday Island and end of the tour a visit to Male Fish- and vegetable market, and its very popular ice cream parlor. All too soon, the two weeks the island paradise were over and we had to fly back home. We hope to see you again in the next Year, maybe new magic tricks by and with Didi to see.
