Audabon's Shearwater (Puffinus lherminieri)

Audabon's shearwaters belong to the family of petrels and reach a body length of 28-30 centimeters. Top of the head, neck, back, tail, and top of the wing are brown, belly and underside of the wings are whitish. The tail helps to fly and can be set up like a fan. They are excellent fliers, mostly slide at low altitude over the water. Outside the mating season they live exclusively on the high seas. The populations at the Galapagos Islands are considered to be endemic subspecies.
