The family of hummingbirds is only found in America and belongs to the order of Swifts. From Canada to Tierra del Fuego one assumes a total of 330 species. Striking is their buzzing, looking like a bumblebee flight in which they move their wings up to 80 times per second up and down. Their diet consists of fruit pulp, insects which they catch in flight and nectar they extract from flowers.
