Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)

The 90-100 cm high, predominantly grey herons occur in waters of all kinds. They are widely spread and in Central Europe, the most common heron species. They are also found in Asia and Africa. They mainly feed on fish, but also eat frogs, mice and insects. They often breed on trees, in colonies, sometimes in the reeds. Both sexes participate in the breeding business, drawing on their 3 to 7 kids together.
