Common Merganser (Mergus merganser)

Large dabbling duck with long and streamlined body. Breeding at fishing lakes and rivers, mostly in wooded terrain. The female Goosander (or common Merganser)can be destinguished by her brown tuft, dependent on her mood more or less full-bodied.The plumage of the male goosander is predominantly white, head and neck are black with an iridescent green gloss when illuminated by the sun.
