Wood duck (Aix sponsa)



The Wood Duck is a species of bird in the family Anatidae. The male is very colorful and so unmistakable, the species is therefore often kept as ornamental poultry. Their natural habitat is North America, it was imported to Europe in the 17th century. Wood ducks are cavity nesters, breeding in tree cavities in the vicinity of water bodies.
