Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)

Our largest and most famous duck. The male mallard in breeding plumage with shiny green head and a white neck ring, the female is brown spotted. Both sexes have a blue-violet wing mirror. From June to September the male also has the brown dress and only distinguishes itself by its monochrome yellow beak against the brownish of the female.
